HISTORY OF INTEL PROCESSOR PART 2
TYPES OF PROCESSOR | There are several more types of Intel
processors. They are:
1998: INTEL PENTIUM II XEON PROCESSOR
Processors created for the purposes of server applications.
Intel at this time wants to fulfill a strategy that provides a unique processor
for a particular market.
1999: INTEL CELERON PROCESSOR
Intel Celeron processor is a processor that is released as a
processor intended for users who do not require processor performance faster
for users who want to build a computer system with a price that is not too
expensive.
The Intel Celeron processor has the same shape and
formfactor as the Pentium type Intel processors, but with fewer L2 cache
instructions, slower speed (Clock Speed) and cheaper price than Intel Pentium
type processors. With the release of this Celeron processor then Intel again
provide a processor on certain markets.
1999: INTEL PENTIUM III PROCESSOR
The Intel Pentium III processor is supplemented with 70 new
instructions that dramatically enrich high-level, three-dimensional imaging,
audio streaming, and video and speech recognition capabilities.
1999: INTEL PENTIUM III XEON PROCESSOR
Intel again added server and workstation market with the
release of Xeon series but Pentium III type which has 70 SIMD command. The
advantage of this processor is, it can speed up processing information from the
system to the processor. The processor is also designed to be combined with
other similar processors.
2000: INTEL PENTIUM 4 PROCESSOR
Pentium IV processor is an Intel product that the speed of
the process is able to make up for speed up to 3.06 GHz. First time out this
processor speed 1.5GHz with 423 pin formfactor, after which Intel changed the
formfactor Intel Pentium 4 processor to pin 478 starting from Intel Pentium 4
processor speed 1.3GHz until the latest is able to redeem its speed up to
3.4GHz.
2001: INTEL XEON PROCESSOR
Intel Pentium 4 Xeon processor is an Intel Pentium 4
processor that is specific to computer server. This processor has more pin
number than Intel Pentium 4 processor and with larger L2 cache memory.
2001: INTEL ITANIUM PROCESSOR
Itanium is the first 64bit processor lined up for users on
servers and workstations and specific users. This processor has been built with
a completely different structure from the previous one based on Intel's
Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing (EPIC) recall and technology.
2002: INTEL ITANIUM 2 PROCESSOR
Intel Itanium is the second generation of the Itanium
family.
2003: INTEL PENTIUM M PROCESSOR
Chipset 855 and Intel PRO / WIRELESS 2100 are components of
Intel Centrino. Intel Centrino is made to meet the needs of the market and the
existence of a computer that is easy to carry anywhere.
2004: INTEL PENTIUM M 735/745/755 PROCESSOR
Wrapped with 855 chipset with new features 2Mb LC2 Cache bus
system conformity with processor socket with previous Pentium M series.
2004: INTEL E7520 / E7320 CHIPSETS
7520 and 7320 can be used for dual processors with 800MHz
FSB configuration, DDR2 400 memory and PCI Express peripheral interfaces.
2005: INTEL PENTIUM 4 EXTREME EDITION 3.73GHz
A processor intended for the market of computer users who
want something more than their computers, this processor uses 3.73.GHz
frequency configuration, 1.066GHz FSB, EM64T, 2MB L2 cache, and HyperThreading.
2005: INTEL PENTIUM D 820/830/840
64bit-based processor and called dual core because it uses 2
pieces of core with 1MB L2 cache configuration on each 800GHz FSB core and may
operate at 2.8GHz, 3.0GHz and 3.2GHz frequencies. In this type of processor is
also included with HyperThreading.
2006: INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6600
Processor for desktop and used on people who want more power
than the computer he has. It has two cores with a 2.4GHz configuration with 8MB
L2 cache (up to 4MB accessible for each core), 1.06GHz Front-side bus and
thermal design power (TDP).
INTEL QUAD CORE XEON X3210 / X3220
Processor used for server type and has two cores with each
configuration 2.13GHz and 2.4GHz respectively with 8MB L2 cache (can reach 4MB
accessible for each core) 1.06GHz Front side bus, and thermal design power (
TDP).
