What is Microsoft Windows:
Microsoft Windows or better known as Windows is a family of
operating systems developed by Microsoft, using a graphical user interface (GUI).
The Windows operating system has evolved from MS-DOS, an
operating system based on text mode and command-line. The first Windows
version, Windows Graphic Environment 1.0 was first introduced on November 10,
1983, but it just came out in November 1985 created to cater for the needs of
the computer with a display.
Windows 1.0 is an additional 17-bit software (not an
operating system) running on MS-DOS (and some variants from MS-DOS), so it will
not work without the DOS operating system. Version 2.x and Version 3.x are also
the same. Some recent versions of Windows (starting with version 4.0 and
Windows NT 3.1) are free operating systems that are no longer dependent on
MS-DOS operating systems. Microsoft Windows can then expand and master the
operating system up to 90%.
OPERATING SYSTEM:
OPERATING
SYSTEM is a system software that manages resources from hardware and software.
Without an operating system, users can not run application programs on the
computer.
Operating
systems have systematic scheduling including calculation of memory usage, data
processing, data storage and other resources.
For hardware
functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the operating system
acts as an intermediary between the application program and the computer
hardware, although the application code is usually executed directly by the
hardware and all devices containing the computer.
Examples of
modern operating systems are Linux, Android, iOS, Mac OS X and Microsoft
Windows.
GUI:
In computer
technology, a graphical user interface or APG (Graphical User Interface or GUI)
is a type of user interface that uses interaction methods on a graphical
electronic device (not a text command) between the user and the computer.
The GUI is
one of the ease factors in the use of computers, mobile devices such as MP3 players,
portable media players or gaming devices. The GUI describes the information and
commands available to the user using a graphical icon.
Example:
Microsoft Windows, MacOS and Xwin use different GUI types.
MS-DOS |
Abbreviated from Microsoft Disk Operating System, is an operating system that
is widely used by IBM-PC or compatible computers. Microsoft created MS-DOS as a
mainstream operating system, before eventually halting MS-DOS support slowly as
they created a graphical interface operating system (also known as GUI) for the
mainstream marketplace, called Microsoft Windows.
MS-DOS was
first launched in 1981, and over time, Microsoft also launched a newer version
of MS-DOS. Not least until Microsoft launched new versions of MS-DOS from 1981
until Microsoft stopped MS-DOS support in 2000.
MS-DOS is one
of the key to Microsoft's success in producing software from a small company of
language makers when it was built to become a world-class device.
